Acne
Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. It often causes whiteheads, blackheads or pimples, and usually appears on the face, forehead, chest, upper back, and shoulders. Acne is most common among teenagers, though it affects people of all ages.
Effective treatments are available, but acne can be persistent. The pimples and bumps heal slowly, and when one begins to go away, others seem to crop up. Depending on its severity, acne can cause emotional distress and scar the skin. The earlier you start treatment, the lower your risk of such problems. At Pamper Haven, we highly recommend out Anti-Acne facial ($60) which is specially formulated to help clear and prevent future breakouts.
Dark Spots
Dark spots on the skin, or hyperpigmentation, occur when some areas of the skin produce more melanin than usual. Melanin is the pigment that provides colour to the skin, hair, and iris of the eye. Conditions that can lead to hyperpigmentation include pregnancy, Addison’s disease, melasma, and exposure to the sun. Pigmentation may also be a result of acne scarring.
People can treat hyperpigmentation by reducing their exposure to the sun, using skincare products containing certain ingredients, or undergoing medical procedures. However, it can sometimes be a symptom of an underlying health condition, and it may sometimes become permanent. If you struggle with hyperpigmentation, we recommend our Anti-pigmentation facial is ($60) which will help fade discolouration over time.
Blackheads
Blackheads are a mild type of acne that usually form on the face, but they can also appear on the following body parts: back, chest, neck, arms, and shoulders. They are a feature of mild acne, but handling blackheads in the right way can help prevent the acne from becoming more severe.
If a pore becomes blocked by debris and remains open, the top surface can darken. This is how blackheads are formed. They can be a little unsightly, but they are not harmful. However, picking or squeezing blackheads can lead to skin damage and potentially cause more blackheads to form. We recommend our Express Dermalogica Facial $45 or our Full Dermalogica Facial ($60) which are designed and formulated to leave you with clearer skin.
Dry Skin
Dry skin, also called xerosis, is a common condition that can occur at any age and for many reasons, including as a side effect of medication, as a result of poor nutrition, and from environmental factors such as exposure to wind, sun, or cold. The skin needs moisture to stay smooth, and as we age, retaining moisture in the skin becomes more difficult.
While it’s an uncomfortable condition, there are plenty of strategies and treatments to manage dry skin. These can include avoiding harsh soaps and chemical-laden skincare products, drinking plenty of water, and using a quality, natural moisturiser regularly. To combat dry skin conditions we recommend our I-spa facial which re-hydrate the skin ($45).
